GIRARD-PERREGUAX WATCHMAKING WEEK
Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland - October 2008
In the second week of October 2008, AVSTEV in collaboration with the Girard-Perregaux Manufacture in Switzerland organised Girard-Perregaux’s premiere watchmaking week in Australia and New Zealand. For the first time ever an exclusive collection of Girard-Perregaux’s most sought after and rare high-end complicated timepieces including the World’s first Jackpot Tourbillon and iconic Three Bridge Tourbillon were on show.
The Girard-Perregaux watchmaking week officially kicked off in Australia with an exclusive “Toys for Boys” evening at the Quay restaurant in Sydney on October 9, 2008. The evening was co-hosted by the Hour Glass Sydney’s General Manager, Ms Lidia Emmi and Girard-Perregaux’s Area Manager, Mr Steve Catena. Guests of the Hour Glass enjoyed an exclusive preview of the latest gents collections from Girard-Perregaux. The evening celebrating fine wine, cuisine and timepieces with the beautiful backdrop of Sydney’s Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Following the success in Sydney, the next destination on the journey was Melbourne. Over 100 guests of Monards were treated to two very special VIP dinners at the Comme and Flower Drum restaurants in Melbourne’s CBD and Chinatown districts. They also had the privilege to welcome for the first time to Australia the Vice-President Girard-Perregaux, Mr Stefano Macaluso who co-hosted the events together with Monards Managing Director, Patricia Chiu. Guests were invited to an intimate sit down dinner at 7pm where they eagerly awaited the unveiling of the 1945 Vintage Jackpot Toubillon by Mr Macaluso. On both evenings guests were given the opportunity to try their luck at striking the Jackpot as well as test their skills of telling the time by means of a Girard-Perregaux Minute Repeater watch.
The final stop on the Girard-Perregaux whirlwind tour saw the travelling exhibition travel across the Pacific Ocean to Auckland, New Zealand. Held in conjunction with Partridge Jewellers at the renown French Café restaurant in Auckland, more than 40 guests and staff indulged in the finest New Zealand cuisine, wines and a special after dinner whisky tasting by the CHIVAS Brand Ambassador. Hosting this event were Mr Grant Partridge and Mr Glenn Peachey, Partridge Jewellers, Mr Stefano Macaluso, Girard-Perregaux and Mr Steven Rom, CEO & President AVSTEV Group.
